Six-year-old Alan, an orphan, longed for the mother who abandoned him on the steps of a shelter. One Sunday, attending church with his guardian, Nancy, he felt a surge of yearning. Kneeling at the front, he clasped his hands tightly and whispered his desperate prayer.
“Dear Jesus, please send my mommy to me.”
Tears streamed down his face as he pleaded. Nearby, Nancy urged him to quiet down, but Alan was lost in his longing. His heart ached when he noticed a woman enter with her daughter, who smiled at him.
“Jesus, look!” he cried. “That girl has her mommy. Why can’t I have mine?”
Suddenly, the woman approached them. “I’ve come for you, my boy,” she said, tears in her eyes. It was Annette, his mother, who had left him years ago.
Stunned, Nancy questioned her identity, and Annette revealed a photo of herself with baby Alan. She explained her past: forced to give him up by her parents.
When Nancy asked Alan if he wanted to go with Annette, his face lit up. He ran into her arms, finally feeling the warmth of his mother’s love. Annette had finally come home.
