Jordan Demands Probe Into Pelosi, Wants To Know Her Role At Capitol

Republican Representative Jim Jordan from Ohio has called for an investigation into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the members of the January 6 Commission, which was previously under Democratic leadership and examined the events at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

In a brief interview with CNN reporter Manu Raju, Jordan asserted that the investigation was simply a politically motivated effort aimed at targeting then-candidate Donald Trump. He further suggested that the Commission should investigate Pelosi’s awareness of the January 6 events.

Below is a transcript of their exchange:

RAJU: “What are your objectives for the Republican side of this investigation, Mr. Jordan?”
JORDAN: “You understand the intent behind this. This is fundamentally about targeting President Trump. The Democrats are compelled to focus on this issue because they wish to avoid discussing anything else. They do not want to address the crime rates in major cities, the ongoing border crisis, or the rising costs of essentials like eggs, milk, lumber, airline tickets, and used cars. Their priority is to find a way to target President Trump for a third time, as they evade these pressing issues.”

Georgia Republican Representative Barry Loudermilk revealed that House Speaker Mike Johnson has assured him that his inquiry into the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack will be “formalized as a new committee.”

With Republicans now in control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, they have a broader strategy to continue the investigations initiated in the previous Congress.

Loudermilk noted that the details of the new committee are still being finalized, but one option being considered is to grant Johnson greater authority over the committee’s structure (referred to as a “select committee”) and its operations.

The establishment of a new committee to highlight Loudermilk’s efforts—including a report suggesting that the FBI should charge former GOP Representative Liz Cheney—serves to bolster the Republican campaign.Loudermilk characterized the previous January 6 select committee, co-led by Adam Schiff and Liz Cheney, as being “so singularly focused that essentially Trump was responsible for creating this entire issue.” He emphasized that “in reality, there were multiple failures at different levels.”

Johnson has publicly stated that the new investigation into January 6 will be “fully funded.”

According to CNN, “Republicans plan to leverage their new majority to pursue ongoing investigations that remain politically sensitive, including the overall security response to the Capitol attack and the inquiry into the former January 6 select committee, which featured Cheney as vice chair along with another Republican member.” Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Republicans issued new subpoenas on Monday for two Justice Department tax investigators involved in the Hunter Biden case and special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into President Joe Biden’s management of classified documents. CNN also reported that these subpoenas would revive previous congressional efforts that have faced legal challenges and remained unresolved for months.

The limited list of individuals granted pardons included Dr. Anthony Fauci and former Wyoming Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, who co-chaired the January 6 Committee. Biden’s aides assert that this measure was intended to prevent Trump or his forthcoming administration from seeking retribution.

However, legal experts quickly pointed out that the pardons would not exempt either individual from the obligation to testify under oath if they were subpoenaed.

Furthermore, it is important to be realistic. Most of these objectionable individuals would likely need to confront charges in Washington, DC, which does not convict partisan leftists, wrote Binnall, a former attorney for President Donald Trump.
