Washington’s war on government waste has taken an unexpected turn. While President Trump and efficiency czar Elon Musk celebrate billions in savings through their Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the old guard stands nervously watching their empire of excess crumble.

The Democratic establishment, clinging desperately to bloated budgets and bureaucratic excess, has launched its latest resistance effort.

But like most things in Washington these days, it didn’t quite go according to plan. Sometimes, the best comedy writes itself.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stepped into the spotlight Monday with what he thought would be a clever counter to the Trump administration’s successful reform efforts.

He unveiled a new whistleblower portal for reporting “corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety.” The irony was lost on him. It wasn’t lost on anyone else.

“Today, I’m calling on our brave public servants,” the Senate Minority Leader wrote as he shared the tipline form on X. “I’m launching a new portal for anyone who wants to expose corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety with the legal protections of being a whistleblower.”

The internet’s response was swift. And brutal. Very brutal.
