They shared that Simpson had been battling cancer, a diagnosis he first hinted at in May 2023 through a post on X. At that time, he mentioned undergoing chemotherapy but expressed relief at having beaten the disease.

Despite his assertions of good health in February, dismissing rumors of being in hospice care, Simpson’s family revealed the return of his cancer in their recent statement. They requested privacy during this period of transition.

Simpson’s legacy extends beyond football, having played as a running back in the NFL for 11 seasons, mainly with the Buffalo Bills and briefly with the San Francisco 49ers.
