The Los Angeles home where Hunter Biden lived has been reduced to ashes and wooden shards amid the flames that have consumed Pacific Palisades and surrounding areas in recent days.
Photos of the first son’s $4 million Malibu rental home portray a nightmarish scene concealing that there was once a three-bedroom, three-bath 1950s homestead with picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean. President Joe Biden on Wednesday told members of the media that his son was not in town at the time but was notified by authorities that his house had “probably burned to the ground.” “It’s astounding what’s happening,” the 82-year-old Democrat said while standing alongside California Governor Gavin Newsom in Santa Monica. “My son lives out here and his wife. They got a notification yesterday their home was probably burned to the ground. Today, it appears that maybe [it’s] still standing, but I’m not sure.”
The property, which Hunter listed for rent at a cool $15,800 per month, was razed into blackened and charred rubble with just two fireplace chimneys still standing. Before and after photos show a stark difference between the paradisal, white-painted property and lush greenery present just days ago, to the hellish, ash-swept ground left today. A listing teasing the property for rent boasted a “guest studio with private balcony overlooking the ocean that creates the perfect artistic space,” a place Hunter used to paint away his demons while preparing artwork for sale. Renters there also enjoyed “mesmerizing ocean views” and “large windows that give the illusion of being fully immersed and in total harmony with nature.” Also destroyed was a tangential residence used by Secret Service members during their protective detail of the struggling first son. The two properties cost Hunter $20,000 and $30,000 per month, respectively.

The Daily Mail traveled into Pacific Palisades, the westernmost suburb of L.A. outside of Santa Monica, to snap exclusive photos of Hunter’s former hub where he ostensibly would have hunkered down while preparing for a federal trial on federal tax evasion. Any hope of that happening was dashed last month when President Biden granted his 54-year-old son a sweeping pardon spanning 11 years, a period where he is alleged to have concealed millions of dollars in tax obligations. The case, brought by Justice Department special counsel David Weiss, was being prosecuted in Los Angeles County due to Hunter’s residency at the time as well as the fact that local Democratic prosecutors with histories of contributing to Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris refused to touch the case.
Hunter’s first Southern California home was rented for $12,000 a month when he purchased it in 2019 while in the throes of addiction and newly married to his current wife, Melissa. The couple later left the property, which featured a pool and gated drive, for a $4.2 million canal-side Venice Beach house in 2021, but not before leaving it in a state of “disarray and disrepair,” according to one individual associated with its cleanup. “Hunter and Melissa were horrible tenants. Not only did they stiff the owner for months of rent, they left the house in terrible condition,” the source told the outlet, adding how furious their team was to have to clean up the property owned by Sweetgreen CEO and co-founder Jonathan Neman. “They were totally disrespectful of Jonathan and [his wife] Leora’s property. Melissa was rude and entitled. They destroyed the stereo equipment in the home and when someone came to fix it, they were uncooperative. They also left the place dirty.” The couple reportedly left the property owner holding the bag on three months’ worth of unpaid rent before fleeing to Malibu later that year
