“Please do!!!!!! Drastic simplification now!!! Gronk simple, Gronk wants simple Tax codes and so does everyone else,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter, garnering over a million views in mere hours.
The issue was first amplified by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who shared a meme highlighting the absurd length of the federal tax code—more than 73,000 pages.
Musk, appointed by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), spearheads efforts to reduce bureaucratic bloat, overregulation, and government waste. Musk has repeatedly emphasized that the labyrinthine tax code is a glaring example of how Washington punishes productivity and rewards tax-avoidance schemes.
“In 1955, there were less than 1.5 million words in the U.S. Tax Code. Today, there are more than 16 million words,” the official DOGE account posted. “Because of this complexity, Americans collectively spend 6.5 billion hours preparing and filing their taxes annually. This must be simplified.”
Musk echoed the urgency of the problem, stating in November, “Simplifying the tax code will increase productivity, instead of incentivizing bizarre tax-avoidance behavior.” His message is clear: a streamlined tax system would allow Americans to focus on innovation and hard work rather than navigating an incomprehensible bureaucratic maze.
Gronkowski, who earned over $70.6 million during his NFL career, is no stranger to navigating tax complexities. Having played most of his career in Massachusetts—a state infamous for its 5% income tax and 4% surtax on millionaires—Gronk knows firsthand how punishing excessive taxation can be.
His endorsement of Musk’s tax reform agenda highlights a broader frustration shared by millions of Americans, especially conservatives who view the current tax code as a tool of government overreach.
The timing of this call to action is no coincidence. With President-elect Trump set to take office, Musk and GOP firebrand Vivek Ramaswamy are preparing to helm DOGE and lead a revolution against inefficiency in Washington.
Their mission: cut the fat, eliminate unnecessary red tape, and return the government to its rightful role as a servant of the people. Simplifying the tax code is at the forefront of this agenda, as it not only promises to save time and money but also chips away at the stranglehold of the deep state.
