A gunman opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday morning, leaving at least two people dead and three others injured, according to local authorities.

Multiple injuries have been reported, according to police, who also confirmed that the shooter is “down.” The school is attended by students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The shooter, whose identity has not been released, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports.
The incident occurred shortly after police received reports of an active shooter on the campus of Abundant Life Christian School, a private K-12 institution that serves approximately 390 students from across the Madison area. Within minutes, officers from the Madison Police Department and first responders descended upon the school, locking down the area and initiating emergency protocols.
The Madison Fire Department, in a statement posted on social media, urged residents to avoid the area as emergency vehicles blocked roads around the school. Details about the shooter, including their identity and any potential motive, have not yet been released.
