Remembering Ewen MacIntosh: The Beloved Actor from “The Office”

MacIntosh’s management company, JustRight Management, confirmed the news of his peaceful passing on February 21, 2024. In a solemn statement, they announced, “It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius, Ewen MacIntosh. His family extends their gratitude to all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home.” The actor’s family plans to hold a private cremation ceremony for close friends and family, followed by a “celebratory memorial” later in the year. While the specific cause of his passing remains undisclosed, tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike, reflecting on his immense contributions to the world of comedy.

Ricky Gervais, the genius behind The Office, paid a heartfelt tribute to MacIntosh on social media, remembering him as “very funny and very lovely,” and praising him as an “absolute original.” In addition to his iconic role in The Office, MacIntosh made his mark on British comedy, appearing in popular series such as Miranda and Little Britain. His final acting credit was in the 2017 romantic comedy, Finding Fatimah.

Colleagues and friends, deeply affected by MacIntosh’s passing, have shared their grief and cherished memories of the late actor. Miranda Hart, MacIntosh’s co-star in Miranda, expressed her gratitude for his comedic brilliance in a heartfelt Instagram post, reminiscing, “Thank you, Ewen, for making me laugh. We were the same age and crossed paths many times as we did our best to be funny and make a living out of it.”

Ed Scott, a close friend and music executive, took to Twitter to pay tribute to MacIntosh’s character and kindness, highlighting his empathy, integrity, and unwavering goodness. “Ewen was so full of empathy, kindness, and integrity, and above all, a really good man,” Scott tweeted, extending his condolences to MacIntosh’s family, including his parents Sara and Ewen Sr, his brother Colin, and his multitude of friends and fans.
